I really wanted to go and get the Sims 3, but I don't want to spend the money if it won't work.
Everything on the system requirements test passed except the video card - apparently I don't have the "Pixel Shader version". Will this greatly effect the game? Or would I still be able to play without it?So I checked the system requirements for Sims 3 and everything passed except the video card?
The video card is the most important part of playing video games, update your video card first then go get it.
They vary in price there are all different kinds. Call a computer store tell when what kind of computer you have and they will help you pick out a good one in your price range. So I checked the system requirements for Sims 3 and everything passed except the video card?
You asked how much a video card costs. You can get a decent budget video card for between $40-$50. The graphics card that I got was a cheapo Jaton Geforce 8400GS that only cost about $40, and it runs the game fine. My advice is that if you want to look for a decent card at a low price to try Newegg.com. But make sure you know which type of card will be compatible with your system.
ALSO-- and this is very important-- make sure you have enough power to run a card to begin with! If you buy a very powerful video card, you run the risk of overheating your computer if your power supply unit doesn't have enough power, so double check before you buy!
