Sims 3 system requirements?

OK so I have the sims 3 game (just the first start game, as i have been waiting for the pets.

I have the requirements to play, just not the RAM - I have vista on my laptop and it only has 1 RAM need 1.5. So i was wondering; if i put the sim game, and others that i buy onto a a 1TB external hard drive, would that give enough place for the game and custom content?Sims 3 system requirements?

The ram is how much active data you can have going on at any time, the external drive is how much inactive (storage) data you can have.

Sims 3 requires 1.5 gb of ram to play on Windows7, but if you close programs you don't use while playing Sims3 you might manage it. If it doesn't work, there's no negative consequences, but you'll have to buy more ram if you're not on a laptop.
