I am posing my question for anyone who considers themselves computer savvy. I found the following system requirements for The Sims 3 (from http://kotaku.com/5112216/here-are-your-sims-3-system-requirements):
FOR WINDOWS VISTA
* Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)
* 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
* 1.5 GB RAM
* At least 6.5 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content
* 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
My question is this: Is my CPU acceptable for these requirements? I have an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @2.20 GHz.
I know my other system specs are acceptable, but I am illiterate when it comes to CPUs (I was almost unable to find the above information on my computer)...Sims 3 System Requirements?
actually your processor is a lot better because it is a core 2 duo.
if you want to see how much better it is this website does tests on a lot of processors: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/common_cpus.鈥?/a>
it gives ur processor 1,170 points and the 2.4ghz P4 only has 350
EDIT: if u want to find ur graphics card put hit start and put "dxdiag" into the search space without the quotations. when the window opens hit the DISPLAY tab and it should say the name of your card in the device sectionSims 3 System Requirements?
your CPU will be too slow. you may be able to run it with reduced graphics. in reality, that isn't your main problem with running games...it comes down to your video card.
in order to play any new game, you will need a good videocard.
what kind of video card do you have? if it is anything less than a GeForce 9800, then you probably can't run it.
a lot of graphics cards have 128MB of memory but are also very terrible. my radeon 9600 from 4 years ago has that much memory and i guarantee it couldn't run it.
one good rule of thumb is that if your computer is 2-3 years older than the game, it probably can't run it. but then again, if you have a computer that is more than 3 years old, its probably time to upgrade or get a new one.
