Think stronger video card and more Ram. Though if you do more then the minimum for Sims 2 already you maybe set for Sims 3 which doesn't come out till the "fiscal 2009" year.
Also on Sims 2 Free Time you're Sim has the chance of unlocking the Sims 3 game to 'play' on their PC. (They play not you the gamer though) It'll just so some clips of the game from what I'm told.

Sims 3 system requirements?I don't understand why people keep thinking Vista is a requirement... no computer person I know uses Vista... STILL!! haha And a "pretty damn good graphics card"... real specific :S Anyways, you'll be able to play it, it's just a matter of what resolution and texturing detail.

The Sims 3 is not coming out soon. Its a misinterpretation of the website that says new information will be coming out soon, not the actual game.

Windows Vista with,
at least 1GB RAM
about 20 GB space
pretty damn good graphics card!!!
