please help me im crying ALOT and can you all make it simple becuse im only 15 and dont know that much about the tecnical side of computers :(Sims 3 system requirements help?
I agree with k623dnowman about us needing to know the brand and model number of your computer so that we can check the specifications. The fact that you're seeing "standard VGA graphics adapter" as your video card indicates that you don't have the correct driver installed. Your computer is currently running a generic driver, as provided by Windows, to show your display.

The good news is, if the correct driver is installed you MAY find that your video card does support pixel shader 2.0, so you wouldn't need to replace the card.

Could I ask you to edit this question with the details ... and also tell us which Operating System your computer is using i.e. Windows XP, Vista, 7, etc. Someone will be able to find a download link so that you can get the correct driver.Sims 3 system requirements help?
You'll need to list the make and model number of your Desktop PC. We can go ahead and look up the specs of your PC with that bit of info.

Sims 3 System Requirements?

ok so I have a semi-new Dell Inspiron 14. I have sims 2 already installed and it works except for the occasional times it crashes like maybe 3 times? I really want to buy sims 3 for my computer but Im not sure if it will work and I don't wanna lose money. i also found sims 3 for 20 bucks on gamestop.com. should I get it? I find it kinda fishy its only 20 dollars when it is usually like 50? sorry if I paranoid XPSims 3 System Requirements?

Laptop versions of these chipsets may work, but may run comparatively slower. Standalone cards that are installed in vanilla PCI slots (not PCIe or PCIx or AGP), such as some GeForce FX variants, will perform poorly.

Integrated chipsets such as the ATI Xpress and the NVIDIA TurboCache variants may default to settings that are higher than what would be optimal for them. Graphics settings can be lowered to improve performance.

The NVIDIA GeForce FX series is unsupported under Vista.

Your processor is a little weak. You need a 2.4 GHz for Vista. Everything else looks good. Make sure you have enough hard drive space.

do i meet the requirements?Sims 3 system requirements?
I would say so, but don't expect top notch quality though. You are somewhat lacking in the 3.0 GB RAM. I think the prefer amount is 4.0 GB due to Vista hogging so much RAM. Your NVIDIA GeForce 8200 is an integrated GPU therefore is not listed under supported video cards but it still means the requirement. Your processor is a 2.1 GHz chip which is just slightly higher than the 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo requirement for integrated GPU and the 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent requirement for Vista.

    Sims 3 System Requirements?

I ran a test on systemrequirementslab.com to see if the Sims 3 would work on my computer, and it said that everything was fine except for the CPU speed... is this one of those things where the game isn't gong to run beautifully, but it will still run, or where the game will run so poorly it's not even worth it?Sims 3 System Requirements?
It will probably lag and be slow.
My computer has really bad specs

    4 GB RAM

    AVG dual core processor

It's not very good, but the game runs beautifully on low graphics. Unfortunatly, it sounds like your computer will only run it on low graphics. I love the game, it's still very fun, but if you enjoy having stunning imagery in your game, I'm afraid it probably won't run very well on medium/high graphics.

    Sorry :(

Hard to say, best thing you can do is compare the specs yourself.

I've linked below to the Sims 3 requirements page. If your computer is lacking in any of the areas you will probably have issues running the game. Seems like a lot of people are having trouble.
it will run slow or not at all

It should do one of two things... either immediately say that it can't run because the CPU speed isn't compatible, or it will chug along until it crashes the computer, causing your computer to restart.

I would think that they'd be AT LEAST that of what is required for The Sims 2. According to the Sims 2 website, the system requirements are for 2 are:

    * 1.3 Ghz processor (2.0 for Vista)

    * 512 MB RAM (1GB for Vista)

    * Windows(R) Vista, Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows 98 or Windows 2000 Operating System.

    * 8x or faster CD/DVD drive

    * At least 1.5 GB of additional hard drive space (5.0 GB total is required if installing both The Sims 2 and The Sims 2 Bon Voyage Expansion Pack at the same time.)

    * A T%26amp;L-capable video card with at least 32 MB of video RAM.

    Supported video cards:

    * ATI Radeon(TM) series 8500 or better (9600 or greater required for Vista)

NOTE: If you have a non-T%26amp;L capable video card, such as Intel Extreme Graphics, then you need at least a 2.4 GHz processor.

You didnt list the specs of your computer, but if they meet these requirements..you should be fine (though to get the best gameplay, upgrade your processor(s), graphics card(s), and add as much ram as your computer can handle. If all else fails (or if it ends up being cheaper to do so) you might want to purchase a gaming computer/laptop.

Also, this laptop get very hot very quickly when playing. Anything I can do about that aside from turning the game off??

Your computer is more than powerful enough to handle Sims 3. The only problem that I can see is your graphics card - 1 320-6082 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT. But your processor is more than fast enough, you have enough ram. It should run pretty fast without any problems.

I think many laptops become hot when under heavy usage, the best solution is to buy a laptop cooler. My computer runs really hot, but after using a laptop cooler, it helps a lot!

I highly recommend this laptop cooler, I bought one and I love it, it is highly recommended by many people. Check it out!

It analyses the game, you wish to test on your computer.

The ram is how much active data you can have going on at any time, the external drive is how much inactive (storage) data you can have.

Sims 3 requires 1.5 gb of ram to play on Windows7, but if you close programs you don't use while playing Sims3 you might manage it. If it doesn't work, there's no negative consequences, but you'll have to buy more ram if you're not on a laptop.

You may have issues because those are the bare minimum. Games function better if the computer is beyond the minimum requirements. You may be unable to install the game, because the game checks your requirements prior to installing. Your computer may also just not be showing your true MHz and RAM. well, you can get a mid level video card...The only issue is that your stock Dell power supply wont be good enough to run a video card....On lower end Dell PC's like the 530s, its common for Dell to use a 300w power supply, most video cards will want at least a 350w power supply to run safely....

First off, its not hard at all to install a graphics card, you can easily do it yourself. Make sure you read up on it though beforehand, or talk to someone who knows how. If you know anyone good with computers, they could probably do it for you for free.

If you aren't comfortable installing the card yourself, then you should probably take it to a local computer place, which are pretty easy to find.

As for the graphics card, it depends how much you are willing to spend. Here is a full list of the supported video cards:

You may just have to kick in and buy a new computer if you want any hope of running the Sims 3 even remotely smoothly. :(

Ram is something that is easily upgraded from sites like crucial.com, but computers have a max amount of RAM they can recognize, and it's possible yours is maxed out. The crucial site will help you there. I upgraded mine to 2 gigs from 512 MB very simply so I could install Adobe CS3, but 2 gigs is the max it would take.

Video cards can kill you. On our older computer we had to buy a new graphics card because the game wouldn't even run without a better one.

As for the processor, it's possible the game would still run, but you can't be sure, and there's really nothing you can do about replacing the processor yourself, and paying someone else to do it wouldn't be worth it.

My biggest suggestion is if you REALLY want Sims 3, is to just buy a new computer. It'll be cheaper and longer lasting than it would be to attempt to update your outdated PC, and quite frankly, it's really your only option. :/

I suggest an eMachines for your situation. I've had mine for almost 3 years, and our older one is about 6 years old and still runs sims 2. They're very cheap, can be bought a WalMart, and they have AMAZING customer service. Every issue I've had with my computer has been 100% fixed by them (even parts replacement) after a quick online chat with their techs at no cost to me whatsoever (it was all within my 2 year warranty.)

I also bought mine at walmart and had the choice of a free printer, or a 19" display. I chose the display, it's great for gaming.

Here's a link to their website:

    http://www.emachines.com/

Keep in mind that most of these you have to buy a display separately if you buy them online.

My suggestion is just to head to WalMart or Best Buy if you prefer, and take in a print-out of the Sims 3 specs and see what they have to offer. You can probably get what you need for anywhere from 300 to 400 bucks.

Keep in mind that RAM is very easily upgraded for not a lot of $$ if you buy it at crucial.com, so you can always speed up your new computer if it doesn't have great RAM to being with.

My last bit of advice is to get the extended warranty if they offer one.

    Good luck!Sims 3 system requirements?
That's a great idea. I've got Sims 2 and I love it. There's way more custom content to download right now and lots of Expansion Packs to choose from. I've tried my friend's Sims 3 and I like Sims 2 just as much, if not more!

    Sims 3 system requirements?
So from the requirements, I can see that you need a duel core CPU, more RAM, and a new video card.

If you were to get all those things, it would cost you a lot of money, and i'm not sure if everything would be compatible with the old stuff you have, therefore you might also need a new motherboard, and possibly some other things.

I could help you with buying all the new parts cheap, but

I recommend you get a new computer, it would save you the trouble of looking for the parts and making sure everything's compatible.
It says your processor (CPU) failed, but it actually does meet the minimum requirement for the game. Sometimes it's just hard for it to detect your processor and compare it to the recommended one, so it says you fail, when you really didn't. As long as you pass on the speed, you should be fine.

You only have 512 MB of RAM, but you need at least 1024 MB to run the game. The only way to fix this is to put more RAM into your computer. You can buy a 1 GB (1024 MB) stick of RAM for about $30-$40, or a 2 GB (2048 MB) stick for about $60-$70. You can get it from Best Buy, Walmart, or any computer store. If you don't know how to install it, Best Buy, or almost any computer store, can do it for you, but they'll probably charge about $50 to do it.

Your video card also failed, and again, the only way to fix it would be to get a new one. Pretty much any video card you can buy in-stores would be able to run the game, however, it isn't as easy as picking out RAM. Video cards come with three different connector types: PCI, AGP, or PCI-E x16. Your computer probably only supports one of these, possibly two. So, you're gonna need to figure out which one(s) you have before you can buy a new video card.

If you don't know which connectors your computer has, you can take it into Best Buy, or almost any computer store, and they should be able to help you figure it out, and help you find a video card that will run The Sims 3. The good news is that it should only cost you about $70-$100 for the new video card. If you have them replace it at the same time they're fixing the RAM, they should be able to replace both for the price of one.

If you upgrade your video card, just make sure to ask whoever is doing it to make sure your power supply can handle the new video card BEFORE they put the new video card in.

One last note: even with all of these upgrades to your computer, you will only be able to play on the lowest settings, and it will most likely run very slowly, so I don't think it would be worth all of the trouble and money to do all of this, just to run one game. If you do think it's worth investing the money, you may want to consider just purchasing a new computer (even a $300-$400 computer should be able to run The SIms 3 better than your computer with these upgrades).

    The Sims 3 system requirements?

As a fan of the sims, naturally i want to get the sims 3 game when it comes out in june. There is just one thing holding me back, my system specs. They are:

Intel Pentium D 2.8 GHz processor

    250GB SATA

    1GB DDR II

Windows Vista (with SP1) 32-bit OS

    Nvidia GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS

    Video RAM: 312MB

    3D acceleration

    Pixel Shader 3.0

    Direct X 10

I have trouble running the later sims 2 EPs, but unlike those, the system requirements lab site passes my system on all the min specs for the sims 3, not top marks but over the minimum. Future sims 3 EPs will most likely strain my system as more EPs are released or not even work at all. My PSU has a max wattage of 300W so a new video card means a new PSU and as you can see i need slightly more RAM. Would it be cheaper to just buy a new unit? than spend money on new hardware and paying for them to be installed as i won't touch my computer myself. The Sims 3 system requirements?

I dont know anything about computers and so Im not sure what exactly I should buy. If someone understands this can you please tell me what I need to get for the game to stop shutting down while im playing because I dont have the right requirements.

I would truly appretiate any help. Thanks in advanced.

I have also heard, but am not sure if this is true, that if i uninstall all my sims 2 games, then the sims 3 will work better. is that true?Sims 3 system requirements?
I would say that the processor is the most important feature for any game to work properly, so unless you can find a way to upgrade the processor on your computer you may need to get another PC or laptop with at least 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent. Next I'd say memory is vital for any game to run smoothly (or at all). There are sites that sell computer parts such as extra memory that you can easily install. Just be sure to check whether the memory you may purchase is compatible with your computer model.

    Memory/ PC parts websites:

    http://www.crucial.com/

    http://www.memorystock.com/

Hard drive space isn't normally a problem, but if it is I would suggest purchasing an external hard drive for documents, music, pictures, etc. to make extra room. Other than all of that you really just need to make sure that your video card is compatible and keep in mind that future expansion packs will also use up more space. If you are in fact thinking of looking for another computer, I wouldn't suggest another Vaoi because a Sony worker told me that those computers aren't really intended for gaming. I would suggest looking into Alienware as I have an Alienware laptop and it works like a charm. Those really are a good way to go.

I hope all of this helps. I know, it takes a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and cash just to have the necessary requirements to even play the game, but it sure is worth it.

that does not mean that your computer is too slow or anything like that. that just means the internet browser you use (internet explorer, mozilla firefox) is not compatible with system requirements checker. if you have not opened up the sims 3 game case DO NOT! download a different browser (mozilla firefox from moziila just google mozilla firefox) and then run it. if you open up the sims 3 case you cannot return it if it doesent work.

no u need vista req. even if u use XP compatibility mode,as for the other part of ur question ,vista req. more powerful system to run.

e.g.if u have 1 GB of RAM ,vista req. more than 512 MB of RAM to run ,and if the game req. 1GB of RAM then u'll need at least 1.5 GB RAM to be able to play the game on vista,so the 1 GB that u have will not be enough to run vista + the game .

My computer doesn't meet the system requirements for Sims 3. Will it still work?

My computer's not that old, but it's not ideal for gaming. I have Sims 2, and the walls flash red because my graphics card (SiS 760) doesn't meet the game's ridiculously specific requirements.

My computer meets all of Sims 3's requirements except for Gz and, obviously, the graphics card. My computer has 1.8Gz while the game calls for at least 2Gz. Will it work okay, or will it lag and have other graphical errors like the flashing walls? My computer doesn't meet the system requirements for Sims 3. Will it still work?
No, it won't. I have barely under the required graphics card and it runs horribly. You need a very good computer to run the game. Otherwise, it freezes every few minutes or just doesn't load up at all. If you're having issues playing the Sims 2, it definitely won't play 3 correctly.
if u cant play sims 2 u DEFFF cant play sims 3, it will go soooooo slow, you will pull your hair out, if u dont have a graphics card that supports shader model 2.0 it wont even let you play, so get a ddr or ddr2 1g ram, and a new graphics card .My computer doesn't meet the system requirements for Sims 3. I've bought sims 3, and the system requirements are just below for my computer... is there anything I can do?

My computer is Acer Aspire L320.

    Sims 3 requirements that I don't have:

(vista) 2.4 GHz Processor - I only have 1.6 GHz Processor

(vista) 1.5gb RAM - I only have 1.15 gb RAM.

They are the only problems. Is there anything I can do or do I have to buy a new computer/parts (which I am not willing to do)?

Can I get a technician out to upgrade it or anything?

Or can I play the game without these requirements (but it would obviously be slower etc)

    Please Help.

Thanks! :)I've bought sims 3, and the system requirements are just below for my computer... is there anything I can do?
You are NOT willing to spendo the moolo huh?

You mentioned stupid, does that mean you cannot read the game box for minimum requirements BEFORE buying the game?

If ya don't wanna spendo the moolo and ya can't read, why ya askin' fer help?

The only thing ya kin try is to overclock the CPU and 'borrow', 'beg', or 'steal' some more RAM.

Be sure to 'replace' the RAM sticks with the same type (DDR, DDR2, DDR3) and speed (333, 666, 1333, whatever) or it won't be worth 'stealin' er, 'replacin'.

PS: How to overclock the CPU is beyond the scope of yer kwestion.

    ;-)
You can add RAM but you can't change the CPU speed. The game might run, but VERY badly. (A 5 year old computer is 10 computer generations old. You should have replaced it about 2 years ago and you should be planning on replacing the replacement in about a year. A computer more than about 3 years old can't run current software. As time goes on, that will become 2 years old, then 1 year old.)I've bought sims 3, and the system requirements are just below for my computer... is there anything I can do?
First try putting all settings to bare minimum and the bare minimum resolution. If this does not work then you must upgrade you hardware which i would recommend getting from newegg. you will get a better price on memory and cpu. If you need to by hardware i would first get memory and start from there.
    Hi,

It would be better to buy a new pc to be honest as upgrading that one will cost a lot of money.

You will most likely need a new motherboard, cpu, more memory, a better graphics card etc.

I doubt the game will play at all with those specs.8-((

ArnakI've bought sims 3, and the system requirements are just below for my computer... is there anything I can do?
    test your computer here

    http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyr鈥?/a>
biggest problem would be the processor, that can be costly and a pain to change and not something for someone with little experience installing hardware.

you can check around and see if you can find a processor thats better, that your motherboard can handle. most of the time you end up getting a new motherboard and chip unless your computer is fairly new, and considering you dont have a dual/quad or higher processor ill take it your computer is older.

So in the long run might be cheaper to just start from scratch (specially if you can build your own about half the cost then dell or some other named brand)

If you already have the game i suggest you plug it and see, but i think it will be near unplayable.

and on a side note are these the recommended requirments or the minium requirements?

Does my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop have the system requirements for sims 3?

I'm not sure if i have an able enough graphics card to play this game, any ideas?Does my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop have the system requirements for sims 3?

If you have any further queries,i would recommend if you can give me the details of your Inspiron 15 laptop and i would be able to provide you with much more detailed explanation.

    The Sims鈩?3 Minimum Hardware Requirements

    FOR WINDOWS XP

    * 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent

    * 1 GB RAM

    * 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0

    * The latest version of DirectX 9.0c

For computers using built-in graphics chipsets under Windows, the game requires at least:

    * Intel Integrated Chipset, GMA 3-Series or above

    * 2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent

    * 0.5 GB additional RAM

    FOR MAC OS X

    * Mac OS X 10.5.7 Leopard or higher

    * Intel Core Duo Processor

    * 2 GB RAM

    * ATI X1600 or Nvidia 7300 GT with 128 MB of Video RAM, or Intel Integrated GMA X3100.

    * At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games

    * This game will not run on PowerPC (G3/G4/G5) based Mac systems, or the GMA 950 class of integrated video cards.

The NVIDIA GeForce FX series is unsupported under Vista.

if you already own it then go ahead and try it out, just uninstall it if its not working well enough.

if yodon'tnt own it then wouldn't try it.

your system is not powerful enough for it to run very well though. i would not suggest buying it to test it if you don't already own a computer to play it on that is alot more powerful than your laptop.

these are minimum requirements that you are looking at and most games barely run using the minimum requirements. i usually would suggest having a more powerful system then the requirements state. definitely not less.

you don't even have to check, it's new enough that it'll work
listen to them. I've spent a lot of dough to make sure I CAN meet their requirements. I feel your pain! You can upgrade items in your tower,,,, the thing you push to start your computer,,,,, but you have to know what you're using, what you can upgrade, and if you have the cash to do it. You have to know your PC if you plan to thrive on the awesome games that come with owning one. The downfall of PC's are the constant need to UPGRADE. That's why a lot of people stick to consoles. You buy the game, it works for the console you bought it on. PC's, you have to check all of these requirements and face the fact that when you open the box you're stuck with a game you can't return. Take their advice. Check the Sims3 website and compare it to your current PC stats as instructed. Hope you can play it, I can't wait myself!Do i have the system requirements for sims 3?

I already have the requirements for my pc(Vista) but the ones posted on the website are only the minimum and want to know what would be good to not have any slowness. My pc runs at 2.6 ghz, has 4gb ram and has nvidia geforce 8500 gt graphics card(512 mb). Is that good to not run the game slowly? What are the system requirements for Sims 3 to run FLAWLESS?
It seems that the game is very picky with the make of the PC. I have a HP w19ev with 2GB RAM, 1.8GHz and an X1300 video card. The game runs perfectly for me.

Theoretically, your computer should run the game flawlessly as you ask.

I'm going to guess if your packing a pre-built (?) computer with 6GB RAM and a Quad-Core processor you will not have a problem.

If you could play the Sims 2 the requirements aren't really much different as the game was made on the same engine created for the Sims 2. The graphics aren't changed, just the amount of power (such as RAM) is required.

The DLC is the only thing that seems to make the Sims franchise so slow. It's like rather then being an expansion it's just another process running on top.

The overall verdict is if your just wanting to play the Sims 3 on it's on without DLC you'll not suffer any problems.Question about Sims 3 system requirements.?
